FURNITURE FINISHES

I primarily use 3-4 coats of Deft 30-minute finish. I find it to be slightly harder than other lacquers and does contain a small amount of coconut oil. This finish brings the koa and mango iridescent quality to its full realization and it works well for me in the tropics. It is easy to fix scratches and even re apply finish should it be damaged.

OIL FINISH

From time to time I have requests for an oil finish It does tend to darken the wood more than the lacquer and with darker koa the grain can become hidden. With the lighter koa and mango it works better. I use two applications of Watco natural oil and hand rub and buff to a satin luster. It tends to be a duller finish than the Deft and should be cared for regularly with furniture oil.
